Manifesto

What is the "conflict"? Is it the horror of the war and occupation with their depression, frustration, fears, phobias and a lack of understanding of "what is the next and how to go on"?

Is it unprocessed internal "conflict" left by parents and still cultivated by an unequal patriarchal society? Is it control and strengthening of the borders of states? Is it chaos of lies and hypocrisy, irresponsibility of power and endless control of their "subordinates"?

Can an artist from Kyiv/Stockholm/London/the United States/a small town in Crimea – in the between of borders/Mexico/Hong Kong/Aleppo/Tehran/..., identify themselves as a Body of Art of the "Conflict"? Does the artist necessarily needs to live in a conflict zone to have rights to talk about the "conflict"? And if she/he/it/they are from "there", so do they must to talk only about "conflict" in their art? Maybe it is lack of voices of otherness? And what about sexuality?

We are a platform for the free speech of those who have no voice, from whom it was taken away, or those who lost it. But our voices are different from the standard populist "convenient" voices of the power of privileged. We are the knife that dissects the irresponsibility and absurdity of the consumer society. We are in the conflict. We are from the conflict. We are the conflict. We have feelings still and through them We will humanise society. And yes – We are special, different, We are the Others.

Raising the question of what a "conflict" is, and giving a voice to talented and unique, still unknown and marginalised "others", as well as to internationally-established artists, We created the first Gallery-Shelter "Garage33", which is located in a beautiful park, in a heart of almost forgotten, old and the poorest working-class district of the capital of Ukraine – near the metro Syrets (just 2 stops from the old town), among one of the first garage cooperatives in Kyiv.

We deliberately decided not to build or develop our gallery-space somewhere in the rich city center, but followed the tradition of world practice of the most advanced and independent galleries and art centers, which once began on the sidelines, among garages and lofts for socio-cultural transformations.
